Anesthesia Coding for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons

Gain a better understanding of anesthesia coding for oral and maxillofacial surgery by attending a 90-minute webinar designed for both OMSs and coding professionals. The webinar will present relevant oral and maxillofacial surgery coding scenarios related to specific inquiries received by AAOMS. Participants will be led through the different types of anesthesia, learn about CDT and CPT start and stop times, and hear common questions and answers on how to report services for a separate anesthesia provider. The webinar also will address the differences between moderate sedation and general anesthesia, current payer policies with examples of payer requirements and tips to help navigate and understand credentialing.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

Define different types of anesthesia services.
Examine federal and state laws and their effects on payer policies.
Classify coding and billing for separate anesthesia providers.
Analyze various anesthesia coding scenarios.

Cameron Huff is a Certified Professional Coder in medical coding and medical billing through the American Academy of Professional Coders. With more than 15 years of experience in OMS coding and billing, Cameron is now an AAOMS staff member working exclusively on health policy, coding and reimbursement. Her professional career includes a 13-year tenure at a busy multi-OMS practice where her contributions ranged from patient care coordination for complex orthognathic cases to revenue cycle management and overseeing Medicare program compliance. Cameron has a master’s degree in health administration.
