Needlestick and Sharps Injuries: Risks, Management and Safety Protocols
OSHA estimates 5.6 million workers in the healthcare industry and related occupations are at risk for occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens annually, and approximately 385,000 needlestick and other sharps-related injuries are sustained by hospital healthcare workers alone. Studies estimate that between 600,000 and 800,000 needlestick and other percutaneous injuries occur annually to workers in medical and dental facilities and other healthcare settings. This 90-minute webinar will provide information on risks related to occupational sharps injuries as well as OSHA- and CDC-required safety protocols, including reporting, first aid, medical follow-up and serologic testing.
