Standard Infection Control Precautions and Beyond

Includes a Live Event on 02/24/2021 at 1:00 PM (CST)

Standard Infection Control Precautions and Beyond

When thinking safety for patients and workers, standard precautions will continue to provide the basis for delivery of care. A new and evolving virus, SARS-CoV-2, requires additional layers to provide adequate protection and reduce the chance of spread of infection. This session will provide a review of standard precautions and discuss droplet and transmission-based precautions and their application in the delivery of oral healthcare. Appropriate use and care of respirators also will be discussed.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify the practices described as standard precautions that are designed to reduce the spread of infection.
  2. Describe situations where standard and/or transmission-based precautions should be implemented.
  3. Discuss three activities that must be in place before the healthcare worker uses a respirator during the delivery of care

Cancellation Policy: Registrants will receive a full refund up until the day before the event. No refund will be given for cancellation on the day of the event.
