This session will familiarize OMSs and their staff with the basics of skin care as an entry point into creating a cosmetic practice. Covered topics include daily skin care routines, various over-the-counter and prescribed medications, newer technologies and chemical peels. The session also will explore tools and methods for integrating skin care into an existing OMS practice, along with the financial and marketing aspects to enhance and expand a cosmetic practice. Case presentations and patient photographs will demonstrate the fundamentals of skin care.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss the basics of everyday skin care. 
  2. Incorporate skin care into an OMS practice. 
  3. Differentiate various prescribed skin care medications.
  4. Evaluate various chemical peels. 
  5. Discuss the ABC's of daily skin care, including the needs of patients with special skin conditions such as acne.

Dr. Fattahi completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at the University of Kentucky in 2001. Immediately upon graduation, he attended a one-year cosmetic surgery fellowship under the direction of T. William Evans, DDS, MD, FACS in Columbus, OH. Dr. Fattahi is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons.
