This session will delve into the nuances of dentoalveolar surgery, including the management of impacted and supernumerary teeth and collaboration with restorative and orthodontic colleagues. It will review the necessary armamentarium, procedures, challenges and common complications. The session also will address the restorative challenges posed by retained primary teeth in implant treatment planning. Additionally, orthodontic skeletal anchorage devices such as TADs and bone anchorage plates will be covered. The discussion will feature several case presentations and a multidisciplinary literature review.

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Recognize the nuances in managing complex dentoalveolar procedures.
- Emphasize the role of good imaging in prudent decision-making in complex dentoalveolar surgery.
- Describe common complications that can occur with complex dentoalveolar surgery.

Deepak Krishnan, DDS, BDS, FACS, is an associate professor of surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where he is the Residency Program Director of Advanced Training Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also the Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Krishnan is an examiner and director of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) and serves as the organization's representative on both the AAOMS Committee on Education and Training and the ADA Residency Review Committee OMS.

Trina Sengupta is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who practices in New York City. Her training includes a GPR from the Philadelphia VA Medical Center, an intern year at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and residency at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. Currently, she splits her time teaching residents from the Mount Sinai residency program at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx and working in a private practice in Brooklyn.
