Decoding Oral Pathology: Navigating Neoplasms in Medical and Dental Coding

The intricacies of neoplasm coding within the ICD-10-CM framework can be complicated. This 90-minute webinar will give OMSs and their coding staff a comprehensive understanding of neoplasm guidelines including the use of the Table of Neoplasms, differentiation between primary and secondary neoplasms and the proper sequencing of neoplasm codes. This webinar also will address locating the correct diagnosis codes for at-risk patients, distinguishing between dental and medical insurance billing, and analyzing provider documentation with integration of medical history. This course aims to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of coding practices in oral surgery, ultimately improving patient care and reimbursement processes.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  1. Apply ICD-10-CM guidelines for neoplasms and oral infections.
  2. Utilize coding resources for accurate diagnosis selection.
  3. Differentiate and sequence diagnosis codes for billing accuracy.
  4. Integrate provider documentation and medical history for coding decisions.
