This session will review the often-debated topic of guided versus non-guided full-arch surgery. The lecture will emphasize the advantages that freehand surgery provides the full-arch surgeon and will help provide the practitioner the confidence and clinical techniques to consistently execute it at a high level.

Key topics include: The benefits of developing freehand full-arch skills and techniques, necessary instrumentation, treatment planning for freehand full-arch cases, denoting/marking intraoperative ID points using the graphite-guided technique, selecting and correlating radiographic and clinical reference points for intraoperative use, and management of the edentulous arch from a freehand perspective.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  1. Explain why freehand full-arch surgery is an important and beneficial surgical skill to develop and provide to patients.
  2. Apply treatment plans and execute high-level, quality full-arch surgeries without the use of a traditional guide.
  3. Implement optimal freehand surgery treatment planning and techniques with a specific focus on the edentulous arch.
