Even in practices with strong safety records, rare adverse events can occur- and when they do, stress can quickly undermine performance. In this 165-minute expert roundtable, three OMSs will share proven strategies to help practices strengthen crisis readiness through improved coordination, clearer decision-making and more effective real-time communication. Attendees will learn to anticipate common team challenges during high-pressure events, apply practical techniques to "manage the moment" and conduct mock drills that build confidence and consistency. The roundtable also will provide step-by-step guidance to organize, run and evaluate effective drills so teams can identify gaps and respond more effectively when an emergency arises.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
1. Appreciate the importance of organizing and executing mock drills in the OMS office.
2. Understand that responding to a crisis event is more than running through an algorithm.
3. Recognize the role of both the venue and team performance dynamics in responding to a crisis event.
