Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Define revenue leakage and explain how it differs from traditional accounts receivable concerns such as denials and outstanding AR.
- Identify common sources of revenue leakage within an OMS practice, including missed charges, undercoding, incorrect modifier usage, unresolved clearinghouse rejections and overreliance on outdated automation.
- Distinguish between a payer denial reason and the underlying root cause of a denial and explain why root cause analysis is essential for sustainable revenue cycle improvement.
- Recognize key performance indicators such as clean claim rate, denial rate, first pass resolution rate, and charge lag time, and apply them to monitor revenue cycle performance.
