Emergency preparedness is paramount for the safety and well-being of both patients and professionals in the OMS office. Systemizing training of staff to overcome common challenges also will be covered. Attendees will gain a clear roadmap for fortifying their practices against emergencies, ensuring the safety of both patients and staff

- Identify opportunities for improvement and organization of crash cart medications and supplies.
- Create routine emergency scenario trainings for all staff.

- Define the office's systems for consistent training of new hires.

Shannon Williams is a passionate clinical administrator with 10 years’ experience in the OMS office. Shannon began her career path in pediatric dentistry where she was eager to elevate her knowledge with a more advanced practice and traded in her prophy angle for a 15 blade. Throughout her career, Shannon has been dedicated to advancing within her practice and creating a training system for new hires that ensure consistency in standards and expectations. She has served on the committee board for Utah Association of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons (UAOMS), where she played a pivotal role in bringing the clinical aspect to the conference as well as increasing attendance numbers from offices all across Utah. Shannon has obtained the following certifications DAANCE, ACLS, PALS, IV administration and credentialed to assist within the Operating Room at her local hospitals. Outside of work Shannon is a devoted wife and a mother to 3 incredible boys. She enjoys breaking a sweat in the gym and staying competitive in sports with her kids. In the coming years she aims to bring awareness and support to OMS managers across the country on the ability to better improve the training and public knowledge of what it means to be a surgical assistant in the OMS office.
