Total Alloplastic TMJ Clinical and Research Update - On Demand Access

This 60-minute webinar will update on the various TMJ replacement systems available worldwide, their embodiments, regulatory status, laboratory and clinical outcomes, indications as well as contraindications. The latest material science research involving cast, forged and 3D-printed TMJ devices will be reviewed. All TMJ replacement systems are not equal in terms of design, material composition, preclinical laboratory testing, manufacturing methods, regulatory status and reporting of clinical outcomes. These elements vary widely among the emerging systems, and it is important surgeons and patients understand this when deciding on the best one to use.

Louis G. Mercuri, DDS, MS

Visiting Professor, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Rush University Medical Center

Dr. Mercuri is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Dentistry. He received his certification and MS in oral and maxillofacial surgery from the University of Illinois Chicago Medical Center. 

Dr. Mercuri is a Life Member of AAOMS, a Retired Diplomate of ABOMS and the recipient of the 2009 OMS Foundation Research Recognition Award and the 2010 William J. Gies Foundation Award. In 2011, he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship in the Royal College of Surgeons of England in the Faculty of Dental Surgery. He also is the inaugural recipient of the ASTMJS Louis G. Mercuri Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of TMJ Surgeons.

 Dr. Mercuri is Visiting Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), President of the UIC Institute of Biomaterials, Tribocorrosion and Nanomedicine and a Clinical Consultant for TMJ Concepts in Ventura, Calif.
