In order to successfully navigate unexpected situations in and around the OMS practice, all team members must be adequately trained to respond appropriately. This session will review disaster mitigation strategies as well as techniques to improve team responsiveness to OMS office emergencies.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Identify barriers to effective management of emergencies in the OMS practice.
- Examine strategies to improve team performance during emergency scenarios.
- Develop office emergency preparedness plans and implement team training strategies.

Dr. Champion is the director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) residency program at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. He is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents, and is the director of anesthesia simulation education within the OMS department. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. His interests include ambulatory anesthesia education, clinical anesthesia research, bone regeneration procedures, obstructive sleep apnea surgery, and orthognathic surgery.

Dr. Foxson is originally from New York and now resides in Naperville, Illinois. He received his BS from Hobart & William Smith Colleges and Masters in biology from Towson University in Maryland. While in the Baltimore region, Dr. Foxson was a part of a research team at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He then attended New York University College of Dentistry. After graduation from dental school, Dr. Foxson completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Foxson started his own private practice, Naperville Oral Surgery and Dental Implants.
